Core Fund
Funds designed to take a sensible, steady approach to generating returns for. These tend to be structured in two ways: one strategy is to combine equities and bonds into a single fund to achieve a steady return and well balanced asset allocation; the other is to combine growth and value stocks to diversify the risk from typical market movement. This strategy can also be called a blend or barbell since it can show characteristics of a pure growth or pure value. Core funds are designed to produce steady results over the long-term result, forming the ‘core’ of an investment portfolio. See also Satellite.
